Today, in the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium, Ambassador of Ukraine to Belgium Yaroslav Melnyk took part in a ceremony honoring the memory of the victims of genocides officially recognized by the Belgian state. The ceremony, chaired by the President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives, Peter De Roover, was attended by parliamentarians, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Belgium, and the public.

On March 9, 2023, the Belgian House of Representatives recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. This step is an important manifestation of solidarity and support for Ukraine in upholding historical truth, especially in the context of the ongoing full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
