The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador-Designate of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Belgium Yaroslav Melnyk welcomed the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his working visit to Belgium. During the visit, the President of Ukraine took part in a meeting of the European Council and called on the leaders of the European Union countries to support Ukraine in providing long-range weapons and air defense systems, to make a decision on the use of frozen Russian assets, to ensure the implementation of the PURL and SAFE initiatives, and to find a way to unblock the negotiation process on Ukraine's accession to the European Union.
Following the results of the meeting of the European Council, the 19th package of sanctions against Russia was adopted. The package includes a ban on the import of Russian LNG to the EU, stricter restrictions on large Russian state-owned oil companies Rosneft and Gazprom Neft, sanctions against the shadow fleet transporting Russian oil, and against Chinese refineries purchasing Russian crude oil. In addition, bilateral meetings with leaders of the EU and EU member states took place on the sidelines of the event.
We thank the partners and all colleagues involved in organizing and conducting the visit!
