Ambassador of Ukraine Yaroslav Melnyk met with H.E. Mr. Matthias Diependaele, Minister-President of the Government of Flanders.

During the meeting, Ambassador expressed gratitude to the head of the Flemish Government for Flanders’ consistent support of Ukraine, in particular in the energy sector, the implementation of humanitarian initiatives for the rehabilitation and psychological recovery of war-affected individuals, as well as for assistance to Ukrainian citizens who, due to the full-scale armed aggression of Russia, were forced to leave Ukraine and found shelter in municipalities across Flanders.

The parties discussed promising avenues for deepening cooperation between Ukraine and Flanders, including within the framework of the recently adopted Flanders Eastern Strategy, as well as the participation of Flemish businesses in Ukraine’s reconstruction projects.

Special attention was given to Flanders’ participation in the implementation of projects under the Foundation of the First Lady of Ukraine “Olena Zelenska Foundation”, aimed at supporting family-based care, as well as access to education and development opportunities.
