Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Belgium Yaroslav Melnyk met with H.E. Mr Adrien Dolimont, Minister-President of Wallonia.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the current state of cooperation between Ukraine and the Walloon Region and explored promising avenues for its further development.

Ambassador Melnyk expressed his sincere appreciation to the Government of Wallonia for its steadfast support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression. Particular note was made of the Region’s meaningful contribution to assisting Ukrainian citizens who have found temporary refuge in Belgium, as well as its willingness to engage in Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction efforts.

Special attention was devoted to economic cooperation, including opportunities to encourage greater involvement of Walloon companies in Ukraine’s reconstruction projects and to further expand interregional partnerships.

The interlocutors also discussed prospects for strengthening humanitarian cooperation. In particular, they explored the possibility of implementing programmes aimed at the rehabilitation and psychological recovery of Ukrainian children affected by Russia’s aggression, as well as Wallonia’s participation in projects implemented through the Olena Zelenska Foundation. These initiatives are focused on supporting children, promoting family-based care, and ensuring access to education and development opportunities.
