On October 9-12 2012, a delegation of Donetsk region is with a visit in Belgium. On October 9 2012, Governor of Donetsk region A.Shyshatsky met with a Minister of energy of Belgium P.Magnette in the framework of bilateral Ukrainian-Belgian cooperation.

On October 10 2012, the Governor visited the city of Liege, where he met with Minister of economy of Wallonia region Jean-Claude Marcier.

Mayor of Donetsk O.Lukianchenko visited Charleroi in the framework of the visit of Donetsk delegation to Belgium, where he met with Mayor of Charleroi. Prospects of development of bilateral cooperation between Donetsk and Charleroi (which are the brotherhood cities) were discussed during the meeting. Along with that, negotiations with top management of Charleroi airport took place. Parties expressed interest regarding establishing of mutual cooperation between airports of Donetsk and Charleroi.

Mayor of Donetsk met with a group of Belgian companies which are specialized at projects of utilizing the industrial wastes and rehabilitation of polluted territories. In the framework of the visit the mayor visited the complex Boit de Kosier, where he laid flowers to memorial of dead miners (during the accident in 1956) and left a comment in the book of condolences.

On October 11 2012, a presentation of economic and investment potential of Donetsk region under the supervision of the authorities of the region was held in Brussels press centre.
