The opening of the photo exhibition "Angels of Sport" dedicated to the memory of Ukrainian athletes who were killed by the russian occupants took place in Bruges. Among them are world and European champions, multiple winners of national championships in Olympic and non-Olympic sports, as well as sports veterans and those who have just started their sports career.
"Most of the athletes killed by the aggressor glorified the name of Ukraine all their lives on the football pitch, arena or boxing ring and never had the goal of connecting their lives with the war. However, fate turned out differently, and when the aggressor state invaded the territory of the Motherland, they decided to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to protect their land from the invaders. We thank each of them for everything they did for Ukraine, for their courage, willpower and struggle. Their names are forever in the memory and history of our state," said Chargée d’Affaires of Ukraine to Belgium Natalia Anoshyna at the opening of the photo exhibition.
It is said that you live as long as you are remembered. It is important that the names of Ukrainian athletes who died in the fight for the freedom and independence of their Motherland never disappear from our memory and the memory of our descendants!
We sincerely thank Vadym Terlyukov for the initiative of holding the exhibition. We also express our deep gratitude to the mayor of Bruges, Dirk De Fauw, for his participation in the opening of the photo exhibition and his continued assistance to Ukrainians! Special words of gratitude to the President of the Sports Committee of Ukraine Ilya Shevlyak, Svitlana Musinia - coordinator of the "Kryla" studio, Hanna Terenkova - representative of the "Yellow and Blue Bridge" organization, the Ukrainian community from the "Kortreik Club UA Razom" and everyone who participated in the organization and holding of the exhibition. Thank you to everyone who came to the opening of the event.
