Today the Embassy took part in the conference “Si vis pacem: The Future of European Defense”, held at the Centre Culturel Schéiss in the city of Luxembourg.

The e
vent placed a strong emphasis on Ukraine’s role in European security and the broader future of defense cooperation across the continent.

Among the speakers:
- Ms. Nataliia Anoshyna, Chargée d’Affaires of Ukraine in Luxembourg;
- General Steve Thull, Chief of Defence of the Luxembourgish Army;
- Ms. Stacy Cummings, General Manager of the NSPA,
- Mr. Guillaume Klossa, President of the think tank EuropaNova and Founder and Chairman of the Conclave.

Importantly, Chargée d’Affaires Ms. Nataliia Anoshyna contributed to the discussion with a powerful intervention highlighting Ukraine’s perspective: «Ukraine security – this is what we want the most. More than 1160 days of full-scale russian invasion and more than 4000 days of russian aggression started with unlawful annexation of Crimea and temporary occupation of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. During all this long period, Ukrainians live under constant massive attacks and in conditions of constant terror. Since March 11, when Ukraine absolutely accepted the US proposal on full and unconditional ceasefire, we have seen russian reply in form of launching nearly 8 500 aerial bombs, 200 missiles of different types, 3 000 Shaheds. All these attacks took place on the ordinary cities, civilian infrastructure and what is the most important – peaceful Ukrainians. Just recently, the world was shaken by horrible attacks on Kyiv, Sumy, Kryvyi Rih, Odesa, Marganets and other cities and villages. Every day there are funerals in Ukraine. Funerals of newborn children, kids, parents, friends, neighbors. This is a very big wound in our souls and hearts. The goal of the enemy is not only the territory. The goal of the enemy is our identity. Russians want to demolish us as a nation and erase our country from the map. But Ukraine with its allies continue the fight for the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democratic values. Ukraine as nobody else wants peace and the end of war. Our goal remains unchanged – victory of Ukraine. We do all necessary on the frontline, as well as in diplomatic sphere, for achieving this goal. Ukraine will prevail!»

The Embassy expresses its sincere gratitude to the organizer- SciencesPo, participants, and guests for their warm welcome, insightful dialogue, and steadfast support of Ukraine. Especially for making Ukraine’s voice heard at such a crucial moment for the future of European security.
