Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba spoke with his Belgian counterpart and friend, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium Hadja Lahbib.

Following President Zelenskyy’s talks with the Prime Minister of Belgium  Alexander De Croo and President of the European Commission Ursula Von der Leyen, the sides agreed on the next steps during the Presidency of Belgium of the Council of the European Union on Ukraine’s path to EU membership. 

Our common goal is to convene the intergovernmental conference in order to hold the first round of Ukraine’s EU accession talks in due time.

The Minister also welcomed Belgium’s decision to assist Ukraine through taxation on frozen Russian assets. The sides discussed next steps on the path to a comprehensive decision to use the assets.

This decision is inevitable and Russia will pay for the damage it has caused.
