Ambassador of Ukraine Yaroslav Melnyk participated in a seminar dedicated to the principles and mechanisms of a national resilience, organized by the Governor Cathy Berx, Governor of the Province of Antwerp, and attended by the governors of Belgium’s provinces. Among the diplomatic corps, the Ambassadors of Finland and Poland also took part in the event. The seminar was held as part of the ongoing nationwide dialogue on to properly designing a plan for the preparation of the Belgian society for a potential international challenges and threats.
The seminar addressed key aspects of ensuring social resilience, coordination between different levels of governance, and the organization of civil structures under the challenging conditions.
During his remarks, the Ambassador of Ukraine emphasized that national resilience depends on a solid legislative framework, the preparedness of civil structures, establishment of conditions for the uninterrupted functioning of critical state institutions and infrastructure, public awareness, as well as effective coordination between central and local authorities and society at large.
Participants affirmed that Ukraine's response to the Russian full-scale invasion holds vital and extremely important lessons for the rest of Europe and demonstrates how a society can organize itself and maintain unity even under exceptional circumstances.
