On 11 November 2012, the prayerful commemoration of the victims of Holodomor (mass famine) in Ukraine in 1932-1933 took place in St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral in Brussels.
The Christian Mass was attended by the representatives of Belgian government authorities, clergy, international organizations, as well as diplomatic corps and Ukrainian community.
The speakers emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of Holodomor victims in order to prevent similar crimes against humanity in the future.
The prayer was followed by the requiem concert performed by „Svitanok” choir, students of the Yaroslav the Wise Ukrainain School in Brussels and Belgian choir “Spivaimo”.
