Ihor Dolhov, Ambassador Ukraine, met with Ann Brasseur, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, on April 17, 2014, in Luxembourg.
During the meeting there was an exchange of views on the political situation in Ukraine, particularly in connection with the Russian military aggression against our country and illegal annexation by the Russian authorities of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, as well as results and relevant decisions of the PACE last session.
Ukrainian side expressed appreciation for the understanding of the complexity of the processes, taking place in Ukraine and around it.
Ambassador of Ukraine expressed his hope that help to Ukraine in addressing pressing issues within the PACE will continue to be in focus of the President of the Parliamentary Assembly.
Ann Brasseur condemned the Russian military aggression on the territory of Ukraine and emphasized her full support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, while stressing the importance of seeking political solutions. The politician also said that her visit to Ukraine on the eve of the session and contacts in Kiev and Donetsk were very helpful in terms of elaboration of the objective and balanced approach.
Ann Brasseur assured, that PACE will continue to pay special attention to the situation in Ukraine and will assist in the implementation of reforms in the field of competence of PACE.
