On 24 November 2013, the prayerful commemoration of the victims of Holodomor, big famine in Ukraine in 1932-1933, took place in St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral in Brussels.
The commemoration was attended by representatives of Belgian government authorities, clergy, and international organizations, as well as diplomats accredited in Belgium and by the Ukrainian community.
In his speech the Ambassador of Ukraine Mr.IhorDolhov emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of Holodomor victims in order to prevent similar crimes against humanity in the future.
Before theprayerful commemoration, the Ukrainian community in Belgiumorganized a solemn memorial walk on the main streets of Brussels.
In the Belgian city of Genk, after the prayerful commemoration at the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel,the flowers were laid on the monument to the victims of Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine.
The meeting with Ukrainian stage director OlesYanchuck,author of the movie "Hunger-33",was organized the 25th of November at the Leuven University.
