Ambassador of Ukraine Yaroslav Melnyk met with H.E. Mr David Clarinval, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Employment, Economy and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Belgium.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador of Ukraine expressed gratitude to Belgium for its solidarity and support of Ukraine in countering the ongoing full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against our state, and emphasized the need for continued unity and strengthened efforts to bring about a just and lasting peace.

The Ambassador of Ukraine informed the Belgian side about the consequences of Russian aggression for the Ukrainian economy, stressing the importance of maintaining international support for Ukraine, in particular in the area of global food security. The Deputy Prime Minister confirmed the readiness of the Belgian Government to further promote the deepening of economic partnership and to continue supporting Ukraine at the bilateral level and within the framework of the European Union.

During the discussion, the parties addressed current issues of bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, as well as prospects for engaging Belgian business in the implementation of Ukraine’s post-war recovery projects. Particular attention was paid to supporting Ukrainian exports and expanding cooperation between the relevant ministries of the two countries.
