On the 11th of March, the meeting of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Belgium Ihor Dolhov with the Chairman of the Belgian Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense Karl Vanlouwe took place at the Belgian Federal Parliament.
Ambassador briefed the senator on the latest developments in Ukraine. The sides exchanged views on possibilities of de-escalation of tension on the Crimean peninsula and the subsequent search for solutions to the situation. Ambassador stressed that Ukraine remains committed to a peaceful settlement of the situation in Crimea through diplomatic means.
For his part, Karl Vanlouwe reiterated the support of Belgian parliamentarians to sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He underlined, that only Ukrainians have to decide the fate of their country and praised the position of the Ukrainian government to abstain from actions, which could lead to further escalation of the situation in Crimea.
