We, diplomats of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO and the Embassy of Ukraine to Belgium, followed with concern the developments in Ukraine and it was with the great hope that we have learned about the steps taken at the talks on February 21 and in the walls of Parliament. The steps which have allowed us to hope for the settlement of the crisis in Ukraine.
Difficult compromise has been reached that allowed us to hope for so much desired stabilization in our country.
The compromise, for which we have paid an excessive price. The price we paid – the lives of our fellow citizens, sacrificed for future generations. May their memory live on forever!
We are also grateful to our friends around the world who have been providing genuine support in the search for a way out of the tragedy that came into our lives.
Against the background of welcoming words, extended from European capitals to the people of Ukraine after important decisions had been taken, deep concern is arising over the trends that indicate the threat of destruction of the fragile foundations of peace and tranquility that are so sought by all the Ukrainian people.
We urge all those concerned to realize that today we are talking about the future of the country we love.
We call on all to act reasonably and responsibly, to abandon radical action, to stop separatist calls and to take all possible steps to ensure the integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
Let's continue together to rebuild our Home in a peaceful and democratic manner. We’ve had enough of bloodshed, sorrow and suffering.
Having given the oath of allegiance to the People of Ukraine, we will continue to do everything possible to protect their interests and decent future in the European family.
